Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. 1Supervises and coordinates all daily work of deck ratings including AB and OS seamen.
2. 2Plans and assigns deck maintenance tasks such as painting, chipping, and cleaning.
3. 3Oversees all mooring and unmooring operations and ensures safe line handling.
4. 4Maintains all deck equipment including winches, cranes, windlasses, and davits.
5. 5Ensures proper storage and maintenance of mooring ropes, wires, and deck gear.
6. 6Trains and mentors junior deck ratings on seamanship skills and safety procedures.
7. 7Conducts daily inspections of deck areas and reports deficiencies to the Chief Officer.
8. 8Manages the deck store inventory and orders supplies as needed.
9. 9Coordinates with the bridge team for anchor operations and tender boat services.
10. 10Ensures all deck crew comply with safety regulations and wear proper PPE.
